Central catering Paris XXth District

Central catering Paris XXth district

The new Cuisine centrale (catering centre) of the Caisse des écoles, is located in the ZAC Porte des Lilas (mixed development zone), rue Paul Meurice and benefits from the positive impact of district under redevelopment. In an affluent but rough district, this architectural project is inspired by the urban issues, the HQE (French high environmental quality standard) goals of the ZAC Porte des Lilas and the technical nature of the Cuisine centrale.

The project is a paradoxical and ambitious challenge, since it requires establishing an intensive production site (factory) in a residential district.

To address this challenge the project has a spatial arrangement improving the way the catering centre operates, while maintaining the way it fits into the district.

Through this building we are modifying the austere image of the catering centre to promote the modernization of the Caisse des Ecoles’ production tool as a positive value.
